Richard Alan to move in with Pamela Scott

　

Irish family owned boutique Richard Alan on Grafton Street is moving and will, from March 2012, be located on the lower ground floor of Pamela Scott, also on Grafton Street.

 Richard Alan has enjoyed a high profile position on Ireland’s number one shopping street for 76 years. The shop originally opened its doors in 1935 and was taken over by the Barron family in the year 2000. However, over the past 12 years increasingly high rents and rates have made remaining in the current location unviable.

 

There will be no redundancies as part of this re-location event.

 

Flairline, the Irish fashion company owned and operated by the Barron family, owns both Richard Alan and Pamela Scott along with the Ashley Reeves and Lisa Perkins stores. Flairline employs approx 300 people in Ireland and this relocation will remove a major cost for the company and serve to protect the security of the jobs of the entire workforce.

 

Making the announcement Scott Barron said "The Richard Alan store had its rent trebled in 2005. This along with high rates meant the cost base for Richard Alan to open the doors was in the region of 850k Euro annually before stock, wages, insurance and other overheads were factored in". He added "This along with the economic downturn has proved in recent years to be a heavy drain on the finances of the group and as a result we are viewing this relocation as a positive step forward for the company, our staff and our customers".

 The new lower ground floor location for Richard Alan at Pamela Scott is being designed by Lambe Tyndall and the interior fit out will be luxurious and contemporary.

 The new Richard Alan store will launch several new and exclusive brands to Ireland such as Jessica Simpson, Goat, Cathy Hilton and Essential Antwerp alongside existing favorites such as Escada and Marc Cain. There will also be a 2,000 sq foot Jaeger department carrying all of the Jaeger collections.

 A relocation sale will kick off on January 19th in the existing premises with discounts of up to 70%. The all-new Richard Alan store in the Pamela Scott building on Grafton Street will open its doors on the 8th March 2012
